FamilySearch would like to scan your family history and genealogy books at the upcoming Federation of Genealogical Society Conference in Fort Wayne Indiana. We would like to add the books to the online digital book collection Family History Books at FamilySearch.org. There is no fee for this service.
Family History Books is a collection of more than 95,000 digitized genealogy and family history publications from the archives of some of the most important family history libraries in the world. The collection includes family histories, county and local histories, genealogy magazines and how-to-books, gazetteers, and medieval histories and pedigrees. Books from this collection are used by over 100,000 people each month.
FamilySearch would like:
- Autobiographies and biographies containing genealogical material
- Family histories with genealogical information
- Indexes to records
- Local and county histories
Bring your books and photos to the FamilySearch booth in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday through Saturday. An alternate location will be available to drop off items on Wednesday and will be announced before the conference. We will scan the books and photos at the scanning center in the Allen County Public Library during the conference. We will also provide you with a copy of the scanned images of the book and photos.
If you arrive early in the week please contact Tim DeGraw at 801-917-0483 or Dennis Meldrum at 801-678-9029 and we will make arrangements to scan your books before the start of the conference.
FamilySearch must have permission from the author or copyright holder to scan copyrighted books or Photos.
